He and his trumpet offered spirited solos (Horace Silver's “Señor Blues”) and elegant collaborative work on harmonies (Herbie Hancock's “Blind Man, Blind Man”)—even teaming up with Coltrane for four records in the late ‘50s (“Sweet Sapphire Blues”).
