Sophistication is the word for TAKA, YUICHIRO, KEISEI and RYO, the four members of J-pop purveyors DEEP. Evolving from a previous group called COLOR, the new quartet’s first mission statement was “Endless Road”, a contemporary twist on classic '90s R&B sounds with handclaps on the beat encouraging an intimate vibe. Street edge comes with party rockers like “MAYDAY”, with its thumping rhythm, but DEEP are in their element when it comes to romance both true and unrequited—torch songs with swelling strings and yearning piano ballads included.
