Composer Chris Miller and lyricist Nathan Tysen pursue a vision of Broadway-musical Americana that looks as far back as Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma. Lyrical, laidback and foot-stomping by turns, their work on Tuck Everlasting and Fugitive Songs combines folk-rock, bluegrass and Celtic sounds with old-fashioned soaring vocals, and Tysen's lyrics stay in the present by balancing folksy wisdom with slick urban patter.
