Charlie Haden Essentials

Bassist Charlie Haden's deep Americana roots informed his work at the forefront of experimental jazz, making him one of the genre's most singular stylists. Moving to L.A. in the late ‘50s, Haden met three key collaborators in quick succession: Paul Bley, Don Cherry and, most importantly, Ornette Coleman. His groundbreaking work with the latter made him one of the most in-demand bassists for the new, freer music of the ‘60s. Later, Haden pursued his own projects, including Old and New Dreams, Quartet West and The Liberation Music Orchestra, never ceasing his quest for new horizons.
