Steven Vanhauwaert

About Steven Vanhauwaert

Pianist Steven Vanhauwaert gravitates toward little-known repertory in his performances and recordings. Vanhauwaert made his recording debut in 2013, joining pianist Danny Holt as 4HandsLA; they released the album Paris 1913. In 2015, he appeared on the album Joseph Woelfl: The Paris Years with harpist Kyunghee Kim-Sutre and violinist Guillaume Sutre. Vanhauwaert often programs unusual repertory such as the Cello Sonata in C minor of Camillo Schumann (1872-1946). In 2022, he joined the faculty of the University of Utah as an assistant professor. The following year, he backed violinist Andrew McIntosh on fortepiano on an album of violin-and-piano sonatas by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges.
