About Jay Trak

Canadian-Indian producer Jay Trak—aka Jaspunit Sandhu—studied graphic design but decided to sketch beats instead. The Toronto native first got his hands on music production software as a teenager and had already started slinging beats before he graduated from college. After one of his tracks, “Griselda Blanco” by underground rappers Pengz and TwoTwo, became a smash in the local Toronto scene while he was still at university, the beatsmith—who put his work out as JP Soundz at the time—found his destined career. Soon after, the aspiring artist met Deep Jandu, who signed him to his label Royal Music Gang and introduced him to Karan Aujla, for whom Jay Trak helmed such early smashes as “Don’t Look” and “Hint” in 2019. Next, the producer—who counts hip-hop producers such as Lex Luger, Southside and Metro Boomin among his key influences—released his debut album New Kid on the Block, which featured guest spots from the likes of Aujla and Happy Raikoti. Since then, Jay Trak’s been racking up credits as one of the hottest producers in the Punjabi music industry, dishing out tunes for MCs such as AR Paisley—under the JP Soundz moniker—as well as Chani Nattan, JERRY and Prabh Singh, with whom he collaborated on the hit “9:45”. His long-standing association with Aujla, meanwhile, has yielded hits like “Gangsta” with YG and “Nothing Lasts” with Divine.
