Jacques Loeillet

About Jacques Loeillet

Jacques Loeillet was an oboist for the Elector of Bavaria and moved to Munich when the elector returned there. He became the oboist for the chamber of the king but by 1746 returned to his childhood town of Ghent. The compositions by Jacques that are extant include sonatas for the oboe as well as two concertos. Six of the sonatas were written for solos and six for duets. The former are considered to be his more formidable works. ~ Keith Johnson
