Help Yourself

About Help Yourself

One of the great under-appreciated British bands of the 1970s, Help Yourself was on the fringes of the UK pub-rock scene, but while they shared pub-rock's tendencies towards Americanophile roots rock, they had a jammy, post-psychedelic side closer to the sound of the great '60s San Francisco bands. They released four albums between '71 and '73, and at one point included Deke Leonard of Welsh kindred spirits Man, but they split up shortly after the fourth, the members splintering off into Man, pub-rockers Bees Make Honey, and Deke Leonard's Iceberg. Decades later, their aborted fifth album was finally completed by the original members and released for the first time.
