About Ginger Baker
While Ginger Baker is best known as the brilliant percussive force behind the legendary '60s bands Cream and Blind Faith, he has had a restless and varied solo career since then. The first leg of it included a stint as the leader of Ginger Baker's Air Force, a large jazz-fusion outfit that recorded two well-received albums in 1970. Baker then moved to Nigeria, built a recording studio, and played with a few local acts, including Fela Kuti. The next few decades saw Baker playing with a variety of bands: Hawkwind, PiL, BBM, Atomic Rooster--but his most critically acclaimed post-Cream work has been with jazz ensemble the Ginger Baker Trio, where his understated playing complemented the subtle stylings of guitarist Bill Frisell and bassist Charlie Haden.
