Canadian experimental rock collective Avec le Soleil Sortant de Sa Bouche were formed in Montreal by bassist/composer Jean-Sebastien Truchy. Formerly a member of influential avant rockers Fly Pan Am, Truchy enlisted guitarist Sebastien Fournier and drummer Nasir Hasan for his new project, a largely instrumental band that fused Krautrock and funk grooves with angular, experimental indie rock. Over the following two years, the group developed its sound, adding guitarist Eric Gringas (Fly Pan Am, Pas Chic Chic!) and replacing Hasan on drums with Samuel Bobony. Their unique art funk pieces made them a perfect match for revered Montreal indie Constellation Records, home to Fly Pan Am, indie instrumental giants Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and a host of other prominent, highly creative Canadian acts. Their debut album, Zubberdust!, was released by Constellation in late 2014 and features two high-energy long-form pieces full of off-kilter guitar grooves, subtle synth nuances, and occasional wordless vocal chants. ~ Timothy Monger
