Tony Lionni Essentials

A slot on Len Faki's Berghain 03 mix in 2009 introduced Tony Lionni to discerning techno fans, but his work since then has veered away from industrial-strength chug toward softer, more melodic styles of house, with deep roots in Chicago, New York and New Jersey. The Liverpool native's range is evident in the labels that have lined up to release his records: Japan's Mule, Paris's Versatile, Jimpster's Freerange (home to Lionni's 2010 debut LP) and even Kerri Chandler's Madhouse, which put out his dreamy, soul-drenched album Just a Little More in 2013. Deep house doesn't get any deeper.
