Selects: Trance Wax

The Trance Wax moniker started in 2016 as a repository for Belfast producer Ejeca (aka Garry McCartney) to press up his edits of—you guessed it—classic trance tracks on vinyl. Within a few years, though, that line began to blur and McCartney started producing original music in a similarly progressive vein, leading to two full-lengths under the Trance Wax alias (2020’s self-titled album and 2023’s Open Up the Night) while he was still making house and techno as Ejeca. McCartney assembled this set of Selects—the playlist in which the world’s best producers and DJs share their key tracks of any given moment—to “represent my influences from the last 20 years”, he tells Apple Music. “I like a spectrum of different styles, but the key to each song is that there has to be a melody that brings back memories. Nostalgia is one of the most fulfilling emotions, and I've tried to encapsulate it in this selection of music.” Hear all his Selects, and add any favourites to your library.
