Peking Duk Essentials

Since forming in Canberra in 2010, Peking Duk—producers Reuben Styles and Adam Hyde—have become one of Australia's most popular electronic acts. The pair use elements such as '70s-guitar funk (“Fire”, featuring Sarah Aarons), feel-good electro-house (“Fake Magic”, “The Way You Are”) and lyrically debauched synth-pop (“Wasted”) to spice up their beat-heavy repertoire. Key to their success is their savvy use of guest singers like Nicole Millar (“High”), Elliphant (“Stranger”) and Icona Pop (“Let You Down”), while 2018's country-inflected “Distant Arizona” (released alongside “Fire” in an ambitious two-part video story called Reprisal) speaks of an act evolving and thinking outside the dance-pop norm.
