Molly Hatchet Essentials

Molly Hatchet are one of the more unconventional bands to emerge from the '70s Southern-rock boom. Adding to the country flavour of so many of their peers, the Florida group bring a mix of pop-savvy hard-rockers, like the 1979 boogie classic “Flirtin' With Disaster”, and snarling riff-burners like “Beatin the Odds”, which reveals a love for the pummel of early heavy metal. Even their beloved cover of The Allman Brothers Band's “Dreams I'll Never See” drains the original ballad of its down-home vibe, replacing it with a crisp, tightly structured pulse and melodic guitar solos that sound like they've been carved out of crystal.
