Those first chords just feel like emotional turmoil. And the solo is a guitar explaining what happens to Jo—there’s organisation and chaos, rising and quick falls, screaming and melody. This mixture of following and simultaneously breaking the rules to exhaustion.” No Doubt, “In My Head” “This sounds like how I imagine Jo’s inner thoughts. She’s so determined to suppress her feelings that they come out in the weirdest ways. She’s a case study of what happens when someone refuses to examine herself. To me, this song is about someone who is nearing a break-up but decides to plan a wedding instead. Which is right up Jo’s alley.”
