Happy Mondays Essentials

Along with The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays were the very definition of Madchester—the indie-meets-dance collision with rave culture that exploded out of Manchester in the late ‘80s. Signed to Tony Wilson's Factory label, the Salford band enjoyed considerable acclaim with 1990's Pills ‘n' Thrills and Bellyaches and the singles lifted from that album. Happy Mondays disbanded in '93 after the anticlimactic Yes, Please with frontmen Shaun Ryder and Bez subsequently forming the successful Black Grape. Happy Mondays have reformed on a number of occasions to tour and record.
