Fausto Papetti Essentials

Apple Music

Not only was Fausto Papetti one of the finest saxophonists of his day, he was also a pioneer of provocative album art. A dizzying number of the Italian musician’s records featured titillating images of women on the front—a bold move in the 1970s that attracted punters who would then be treated to his powerful pop and jazz covers. Papetti, a jazz-trained alto and baritone sax player, used his instrument as a voice, playing countless covers of hits over several decades and spawning many imitators. He died in Sanremo, Italy, in 1999. After a successful, prolific and influential career, Papetti is remembered as the real deal.
