Charlotte Day Wilson Essentials

Charlotte Day Wilson swiftly became one of Canada’s most compelling voices in R&B with 2016’s slow-burning love letter “Work”. Born in Toronto in 1993, early exposure to Motown as a kid informs her richly textured neo-soul. She first explored the sound in university as a member of funk group The WAYO and dug deeper in the mid-2000s with her breakout EP, CDW. The critical and commercial success of “Work” turned Wilson into an in-demand collaborator—she’s also a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist—and she’s since become a vital thread in Toronto’s jazz and R&B tapestry, working with the likes of Mustafa, BADBADNOTGOOD and Daniel Caesar. She continued to blossom on her 2021 debut long player, ALPHA, on which she explores understated folk, groovy pop and airy gospel while delving into the topic of queer love.
