Audioslave Essentials

Boasting members of both Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave combine fierce alt-metal with smart songcraft and soulful introspection. The supergroup came out swinging in 2002 with their hammering, howling self-titled debut and have subsequently opened up their sound to more classic rock touches—“Be Yourself” is a smoky meditation pairing Chris Cornell's mournful groan with Tom Morello's funky wah-wah. Even more revealing is “Doesn't Remind Me”, which shows off their subtle use of folk-style guitar picking and rootsy rhythms.
