About Sarah Jeffery

Sarah Jeffery is a trailblazing recorder player who favours contemporary arrangements and performances that highlight the wind instrument’s versatility. Her 2018 debut album, Constellations (Minimal Music for Recorders), boasts rich tones and features a rare performance of Steve Reich’s “Vermont Counterpoint”. Born in 1985 in Liverpool, Jeffery holds degrees from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Birmingham Conservatoire. She was the first recorder player invited to join the Amsterdam-based Splendor collective and has performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the NEU NOW festival Glasgow. Her collaborations encompass lilting melodic accompaniment (the cutting-edge indie pop of Jerboah) and more solemn, hymnal tones (Renaissance music with The Royal Wind Music), and she has taught recorder classes to students all around the world. Now based in Amsterdam, in 2021 she was named an Honorary Vice-President of the Society of Recorder Players in the UK.
