A North Carolina-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist steeped in Appalachian music and bearing a pioneering spirit, Sally Anne Morgan first made her name as a fiddler with forward-thinking string band the Black Twig Pickers, and later the duo House and Land. Pairing old-time traditions with improvisation, drone techniques, and light psychedelia, Morgan stepped out on her own in 2020, signing with the Thrill Jockey label and releasing her solo debut, Thread. She followed it a year later with the more cerebral Cups. With her third album, 2023's Carrying, Morgan grew into a more structured though still experimental sound.
