About Nik P.

Nik P. was an Austrian schlager singer and composer who maintained a moderately successful career before scoring a phenomenal hit in 2007 with "Ein Stern (Der Deinen Namen Trägt)." Born Nikolaus Presnik on April 6, 1962, he was a self-taught guitarist who scored a recording contract with Stall Records and released his debut album, Gebrochenes Herz, in 1997. For five years he enjoyed plenty of regional hits, but the success of "Lovin' You" in 2004 was exceptional and marked a turning point in Presnik's career. The single broke into the Austrian Top 40, becoming his first national hit, and set the stage for his breakthrough album, Lebenslust & Leidenschaft, which included the hits "Summerwine & Coconut," "Gloria II," and most notably, "Ein Stern (Der Deinen Namen Trägt)." ~ Jason Birchmeier
