DIVR

Divr (pronounced "diver") are a modernist jazz piano trio from Switzerland. Their musical practice is in real-time composing, where each player's strengths and idiosyncrasies are displayed, channeled, and amplified in the creative process. They play largely acoustic improvisations that loop, without ever quite repeating. They play in multidirectional time simultaneously, but manage to land in the same place in an instinctive flow. Trying to repeatedly execute compositional riffs, vamps, or themes incessantly can't help but result in small differences. Divr signed to WeJazz Records in 2023 and recorded their debut album, Is This Water. It was "post-produced" and mixed by Dan Nicholls, who added field recordings, found sounds, and textures that gave the music further layers of depth and meaning.
