About Acoustic Ocean

The new age duo Acoustic Ocean previously performed another style of music under another name; they used to be the folk duo Morgan & Phelan. Peggy Morgan was born in Philadelphia and became a folk musician under the influence of the Civil Rights Movement and through her upbringing as a Quaker. She began writing songs while attending Brown University. Bette Phelan grew up in Weston, MA, and studied piano before turning to guitar, then dulcimer while she was attending Dean College. After meeting and forming Morgan & Phelan, the two toured together for 20 years while releasing four singer/songwriter folk albums, Peggy Morgan & Bette Phelan, Alive in These Hills, Roots of Peace, and Celebrations of Love. A Festival of Song contained songs and stories for children. Both Morgan and Phelan then became certified Kripalu Yoga teachers and therapists. Morgan is a Craniosacral therapist specializing in SomatoEmotional Release, Heart Centered Therapy, and Lymphatic Drainage Therapy. Phelan is a Transpersonal Hypnotherapist and Stress Management Counselor. She released the solo albums Yoga for Strength, Flexibility, Vitality & Relaxation, and Guided Relaxation for Stress Reduction & Deep Sleep. Together, Morgan and Phelan founded Tropical Tune-Ups, yoga and wellness retreats in Hawaii featuring sound healing. Sound healing is the intention behind the formation of their second duo, Acoustic Ocean and its self-released debut CD, Light Returning, issued on November 13, 2008. ~ William Ruhlmann
