The early-2024 release from The Game and Big Hit came about so organically it’s almost a surprise that it happened at all. The “Hate It or Love It” legend rolled through the studio of Big Hit and his son Hit-Boy to lay down some raps and hopefully leave with a song or two to commemorate the collaboration. A few hours later, the duo, with plenty of assistance from Hit-Boy, emerged with a nine-song project that pays homage to their shared gang history and Cali roots. The project is a nod back to the days of The Game’s mixtapes, the last of which dropped way back in 2013. More recently, it follows his sprawling 2022 album DRILLMATIC Heart vs. Mind. This album signals a return to normalcy for Big Hit, who celebrated his return from prison with his 2023 LP SURF OR DROWN, Vol. 2, a joyous, defiant collection of songs he built from the ground up with his son.
