Ornette Coleman: Deep Cuts

Ornette Coleman: Deep Cuts

Coleman's classic acoustic quartet of the ‘60s often dominates discussions, but he pushed the borders of jazz, classical and pop with many groups throughout his career. He memorably soloed on composer Gunther Schuller's “Variants on a Theme of Thelonious Monk”, created his own funk-rock fusion on tracks like “Rock the Clock” and produced bracing modernist string quartets, as on “Dedication to Poets and Writers”.
