Nabowa Essentials

Nabowa Essentials

Emerging from the Kyoto street music scene in 2004, Nabowa broke with traditional instrumental rock when they began to incorporate elegant violin and a marked African and Caribbean influence. The quartet bring in elements from diverse genres, dipping into jazz piano and reggae-inspired melodica and making great use of the West African djembe, which throws a delightful percussive curveball into the mix. Their genre-blurring styles work just as well with singers like ACO and Naoito, who add nuance to an already rich sonic palette.
