Fuego: Black Power Represents

Dominican-American singer Fuego began his career combining the sounds of Caribbean mambo with hip-hop and R&B. That same practice, along with an adaptability to new sounds, would find him on the forefront of the Latin trap movement years later. Fuego’s Black Music Month playlist, which features favorites from Pharrell, Juice WRLD, Tego Calderón, Future, and ROSALÍA, is exemplary of the many voices he enjoys as an artist operating in multiple worlds. “A lot of these songs made a big mark on either my life or my music, and they all inspire me somehow,” he says. “Emotionally, I respond to melodies—they make me feel the full range, from hype to sad.”
