The Fatima Mansions

About The Fatima Mansions

Genre-skirting band Fatima Mansions was formed in 1989 by singer Cathal Coughlan, fresh from his stint with the more restrained Microdisney. The outfit released several albums of smart, aggressive alt-rock marked by cheif agitator Coughlin's doomsaying lyrics during the late 1980s and 1990s. The band’s 1991 album BERTIE’S BROCHURES included a gleeful mangling of R.E.M.’s “Shiny Happy People,” and a year later the group brutalized Brayn Adams’s "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You." Coughlan also recorded two albums under the banner of Bubonique, before embarking on a solo career in 1996.
