About The Expelled

The Expelled were an Oi!-flavored punk band formed in 1981 in West Yorkshire, England; a demo tape got them signed to the Riot City label, for whom they recorded two singles. Tours with bands like the Exploited and Vice Squad followed, but internal unrest led to original lead singer Jo! departing from the group; he was replaced in turn by Jewelie, Penny, and finally bassist Macca in 1983 (guitarist Tim was another member). Although there were several more recording sessions, no more Expelled material was released during the band's existence; they officially dissolved in April 1984. In 1999, Captain Oi! issued a 17-track collection of Expelled recordings entitled A Punk Rock Collection. ~ Steve Huey
