Ebo Taylor Essentials

Ebo Taylor Essentials

Ghanaian guitarist and bandleader Ebo Taylor got his start in the late '50s with the highlife band The Stargazers. By 1960, he'd founded his own group, Black Star Highlife Band. The band relocated to London, where they collaborated with other African artists living and working there, like Fela Kuti. Upon returning to Ghana, Taylor's work began incorporating jazz and funk influences. His sounds reached a new audience in the new millennium, thanks to his being sampled by hip-hop artists like Usher and Ludacris, and this renewed popularity led to his first international release in 2010.
