Attitude, fight, rebellion: the words DERRETIDA—real name Lucia Anaya—had in mind while creating this mix for Pride Month. “Pride, for me, is about attitude and togetherness, and this mix has both,” she tells Apple Music. “It’s considered a celebration worldwide, but it’s also a daily fight and rebellion.” The Mexico City promoter and DJ created this mix in a new studio that she shares with fellow artist TAYHANA, and the space itself represents a new era for them both—one in which Anaya can support other women and the queer community to grow, create and feel their way through the music industry. The mix itself is a melting pot of sounds and styles from her own life and the community that surrounds her. “This mix goes to South America, and also all over the world. It’s strong but also psychedelic. I always add my music roots into mixes, and genres like New Wave and post-punk are like a tag in my own style,” she says. Listen out for tracks from Brazilian producer Saskia and rapper Jup do Bairro, both queer artists Anaya has been following for years. Jup do Bairro’s track “PELO AMOR DE DEIZE”, featuring funk artist Deize Tigrona, is a particular highlight. “I love hearing metal guitars in this track,” she says. “The power and attitude is really refreshing and the mix of different styles is just genius. Having the three characters on this track is unique—you have Jup, a queer trans MC, then you have Deize Tigrona, a big legend in baile funk, and BADSISTA, a young and fresh producer who has conquered dance floors all around the world.”
