Ghost On Ghost

Ghost On Ghost

On his fifth album, Iron & Wine's Sam Beam wraps his folk roots in noir jazz and soft rock. Loose layers of electric piano, horns and soulful backing vocals give Ghost on Ghost a warm, '70s-inspired veneer. But rhythm is the focus of the album, which features frisky drum fills from jazz percussionist Brian Blade on "Caught in the Briars", slinky, skulking basslines from Tony Garnier on "Low Light Buddy of Mine" and Beam's Beat-like phrasing on baroque-pop track "Grace for Saints and Ramblers".
