Intro to O Rappa

Intro to O Rappa

Spawned from a 1993 Brazilian visit from Caribbean reggae artist Papa Winnie, who needed a back-up band on the quick, the assembled band—along with the addition of charismatic vocalist Falcão—became the socially charged O Rappa. Fusing an incendiary blend of reggae-undertoned rock, rap and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), O Rappa employs street-cred vibes and musical calls-to-arms that often dissect inequality and injustice on the streets of the band's hometown Rio de Janeiro. They've hatched 16 Top 50 hits in Brazil, including "Minha Alma", "Me Deixa" and "Na Frente do Reto".
