A founding member of the Racionais MC’s collective in São Paulo, Mano Brown has been a key figure in Brazilian hip-hop since the late 1980s. In his work with the group, he’s showcased an evolving style that’s adapted to changing trends and tastes—from stormy social realism in the ’90s (“Diário de um Detento”) to the pointed minimalism of later cuts like “Cores & Valores”.
