First billed simply as “Vicky”, the Greek-born pop singer put all of continental Europe on notice with a succession of bilingual hits in the late ‘60s, introducing the world to easy listening standard “Love Is Blue” and sweeping 1972's Eurovision contest with “Dann kamst du (Après Toi)”. And while she's never left her Greek heritage behind (note a chart-smashing ode to bouzouki summer nights), she serves as one of pop's most tireless global ambassadors, seemingly at her happiest when experimenting with genres or busting out yet another language.
