Takuya Ohashi and Shintaro Tokita craft stripped-down pop as Sukima Switch, often using just acoustic guitar strumming and bare piano notes to create their minimalist tunes. The duo take cues from artists such as Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, incorporating elements of jazz and adding brass instruments for a surprising punch. They alternate between infectious pop and diffuse meditations, though some of their most showstopping (and popular) songs are big, swooning ballads that employ Ohashi's powerful voice to maximum effect. They get a whole lot out of such a small setup.
