The Spitfires

About The Spitfires

A mod-inspired act from Watford, England, the Spitfires enjoyed minor success in the U.K. over a ten-year period. Their first release, "Spark to Start," appeared in 2012. Their full-length debut, Response, was eventually released in the summer of 2015 and graced the Top 70 of the U.K. album chart. The band returned in 2016 with A Thousand Times, which, in comparison to their debut, was cinematic in style and progressive in its scope, whereas 2018's Year Zero nodded to a ska influence in places while utilizing higher production values and flashier sonics. Life Worth Living, which featured the Style Council-influenced "Tear This Place Right Down!," followed in 2020, but the band split in 2022 after the release of an expansive and inventive fifth album, Play for Today.
