About Miklos Perenyi

Miklos Perényi's first teacher happened to be a student of legendary cellist David Popper, but Perényi himself would go on to be a respected performer, personally invited by another legend of the instrument, Pablo Casals, to play at Casals' master classes and the Marlboro Festival in the 1960s and '70s. His repertoire spans the Baroque to the contemporary. Perényi debuted Peter Eötvös' Cello Concerto Grosso in June 2011. He and his frequent collaborator, pianist András Schiff, won awards for their recording of the complete cello and piano music of Beethoven. As well as performing and teaching at Budapest's Franz Liszt Academy, Perényi also finds time to do some composition.
