Exploring themes of sexuality, gender, and club culture, there's a drag-inspired theatricality to the South London artist Lynks' eccentric, often comedic, lo-fi industrial pop. It was an impromptu, chaotic, humor-filled gig at a friend's house party in 2018 that led Elliot Brett to create the Lynks Afrikka persona, breaking away from the stoic tone of earlier musical efforts. Brett's 2020 debut EP, Smash Hits, Vol. 1 (titled with tongue in cheek), showcased a playful brand of raw, electronic pop that was lyrically witty, presenting the mundane in an exploratory and innovative way. Later that year, with his moniker shortened to Lynks, the sardonic single "On Trend" was issued ahead of 2021's Smash Hits, Vol. 2, which included a cameo from Shame's Charlie Steen on the single "This Is the Hit." A third EP, MEN, was released in 2022, and 2024 saw the release of the debut full-length ABOMINATION.
