About Ian Anderson
Frontman and guiding spirit for Jethro Tull, whose flute-playing on one leg is literally an emblem for the band, Ian Anderson occasionally records solo albums that depart significantly from the output of his group (although it can be argued that every Tull album since the mid-'70s has, in effect, been an Anderson solo project, supported by whichever musicians he chooses to call "Jethro Tull"). His solo material tends to be more overtly serious, and more oriented toward instrumental music than Tull's music. He continued to record sporadically into the 2010s, releasing Thick as a Brick 2 (a sequel to the 1972 original) in 2012. ~ Bruce Eder
