About Hombres G

Often called The Latin Beatles, rock quartet Hombres G mixed raucous musical influences, boyish charm, and energetic concerts to become one of Spain’s most popular acts of the ’80s and ’90s. ∙ In 1985, their chart-topping hit single, “Devuélveme a Mi Chica,” and a tireless touring schedule earned the band an international fanbase of frenzied teenagers. ∙ Their US breakthrough came with the horn-driven hook and playful ska bounce of “Visite Nuestro Bar,” from their 1986 sophomore album, La Cagaste… Burt Lancaster. ∙ By 1987, they’d sold more than 1 million albums in Spain and, taking a cue from The Beatles, made a musical film—Sufre Mamón—in which they played fictionalized versions of themselves. ∙ After breaking up in the early ’90s, they returned in 2002 with the compilation LP Peligrosamente Juntos and the new pop-rock singles “Lo Noto” and “En Otro Mundo.” ∙ The band’s signature hit, “Devuélveme a Mi Chica,” was ranked No. 10 on VH1 Latin America’s 2007 TV special 100 Greatest Songs of the ’80s in Spanish. ∙ Featuring a modernized take on their classic sound, their collection 10 was nominated for Best Pop Album By a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 2008 Latin Grammy Awards.
