First Ladies of Disco

About First Ladies of Disco

Named after a book written by James Arena, the First Ladies of Disco feature three of the artists whose interviews appear in the pages of that 2013 publication. Linda Clifford, Evelyn "Champagne" King, and Martha Wash have dozens of Billboard Top Ten club hits that date back to 1978. They teamed up for performances with a number of their peers and in 2015, as a trio, released an uplifting contemporary dance-pop single titled "Show Some Love." Remixed by the likes of Razor N' Guido and the Perry Twins, the song reached the upper third of Billboard's Top Dance Club Songs chart and was situated between tracks by a host of producers and vocalists -- from Madonna to Icona Pop -- who owed much to them. ~ Andy Kellman
