Borrowing from the heyday of '80s house, techno, and new wave, E. Bias features vocalist/keyboardist Richard Youngs, keyboardist Luke Fowler, vocalist Sam Wolk, and drummer Paul Thomson. During his decades-long career, Youngs has worked with artists including Matthew Bower and Makoto Kawabata; Fowler is also a visual artist and filmmaker, and Thomson is the drummer for Franz Ferdinand and AMOR. The group collaborated on a set of songs telling the story of Emmanuel Maggi, a fictional Italian factory worker who became an electronic musician in the '80s and sent demos for his unreleased debut album for Youngs to finish. E. Bias' Emmanuel Bias EP arrived in early 2017 on Kick + Clap, the label of Django Django's Dave Maclean. After the E. Bias sessions ended, Youngs, Fowler, and Thomson recruited double bassist Michael Francis Duch and continued in a similar vein as AMOR. ~ Heather Phares
