Celestial Shore

About Celestial Shore

Intricate Brooklyn-based indie trio Celestial Shore began as a recording project of singer/guitarist Sam Owens. After relocating to California with an internship to work with Blue Microphones, Owens began recording the material that would eventually comprise the 2012 EP California Eden. Blending off-kilter jazz improvisations and mathy time signatures with classic '60s pop influences like the Zombies and Beach Boys, the group followed up with a 7" and a split EP before completing its debut album, 2013's 10x. Mixed by Deerhoof's Greg Saunier and released in conjunction with Brad Oberhofer's Local Singles label and Portland experimental indie Hometapes, 10x shared a progressive style similar to fellow Brooklynites Dirty Projectors. Their second LP, the more pop-oriented Enter Ghost, arrived in November 2014. ~ Timothy Monger
