About Algodón Egipcio

After cutting his teeth in Jóvenes y Sexys, Venezuelan songwriter Ezequiel "Cheky" Bertho started creating his own music as Algodón Egipcio (a solo project that translates to "Egyptian Cotton.") In 2010, after visiting São Paulo, Brazil, he returned inspired and started recording in his Caracas bedroom; he completed half of his debut in just a week. The resulting ten-track album titled La Lucha Constante (or "The Constant Struggle") was comprised of tropical electronic beats and dream pop, making it comparable to an overseas version of chillwave. It was released on Lefse Records in the spring of 2012.
