A full-blooded product of Louisiana's Cajun country, who has also made his home in Quebec, Zachary Richard's first musical influences were The Rolling Stones and The Byrds. Soon, though, he picked up the accordion and became a swamp-rock stalwart devoted to preserving the language and culture of his Canadian forebears. Richard's ballads, two-steps, waltzes, and rockers decry environmental spoilage, promote Québécois separatism, evoke Creole romance, and energize the dancing feet of music lovers on the bayou and beyond.
