The Smiths: Ballads

Although The Smiths formed in the post-punk '80s in grimy, industrial Manchester, Morrissey at his heart was a pop romantic in the grand '60s tradition. And that meant he loved nothing more than a great big, dramatic ballad. While their singles tended toward the uptempo, just about every side of every Smiths LP featured an epic showcase for Morrissey's most emotional lyrics.
