The Isley Brothers: The T-Neck Era
Apple Music
Leaving Motown a decade after their initial hit "Shout," The Isley Brothers evolved from a Temptations-style vocal group into a swaggering funk-rock band. Starting their own label, T-Neck Records, and adding teenage siblings Ernie and Marvin Isley on Hendrix-style lead guitar and James Brown-influenced bass, the Isleys recorded a string of classic soul hits starting with 1969's "It's Your Thing."
