As infatuated with technology as with penning the perfect pop tune, The Gap Band experimented with a slew of early synths and drum machines, as heard on the electro-inflected "Beep a Freak" and the layered P-Funk-ish bounce of "Big Fun." They never shied from sentimentality, getting deep on ballads like "Going in Circles" and "You Are My High." And "Sweet Caroline" and "The Boys Are Back In Town" are—surprisingly to many—both Gap Band originals.
